With job seekers facing an increasingly competitive hiring landscape, Stand Out positioned Robertson as more than just a place to learn, but a place that helps you stand out and get hired.
In spring 2024, Robertson College launched a national campaign set out to answer a critical question facing students today: How do I actually get hired after I graduate?
The strategy was rooted in a real audience insight: many Canadians, especially recent grads, feel invisible in the job market. According to a 2024 Indeed Canada survey, 74% of job seekers said they were unsure how to differentiate themselves during the application process. Despite having the right qualifications, many reported feeling overlooked. At the same time, Statistics Canada reported over 300,000 job vacancies across the country, with employers in key sectors like healthcare, trades, and tech struggling to find work-ready talent.
This tension between talent supply and hiring hesitation became the creative opportunity. Brandish developed Stand Out around a simple idea: if job seekers feel like they’re fading into the background, Robertson can help them stand out. The campaign leaned on a bold visual metaphor: job applicants blending into patterned wallpaper and clothing during an interview, symbolizing the gut-punch feeling of being overlooked.
The resolution was Robertson Workforce, Robertson’s career support platform that connects graduates directly with employers and ensures they’re supported long after graduation. To bring the idea to life, Brandish collaborated with Winnipeg-based Enjoy Creative to produce four comedic, visually striking video spots. The humour was intentional, used to disarm and connect with the audience, but beneath the jokes was a very real message. In today’s market, degrees alone aren’t enough. Support, coaching, and employer connection matter more than ever.
The campaign launched across social platforms, YouTube, and programmatic video in May 2024. Early digital results show strong performance with adults aged 18–34 along with high video completion rates and positive sentiment on social media. While many post-secondary institutions focus on enrollment or student life, Robertson College used Stand Out to reposition itself as a career partner. It’s not just about education, it’s about employment. And in a market where standing out is half the battle, Robertson is making sure its students don’t have to fight alone.
